I hate it when you look and search for just the perfect part you need for a restoration, you order the port and the seller did a crap job of packaging and the part arrives broken. I purchased an airguide barometer to fill a hole in the dash of my Deep C, I was giddy it even matched the tach and speedo that is existing, I opened the box and the glass was cracked. Grinds my gears.

And therein lays the problem. Who actually is responsible for the breakage? Is it the person that boxed it in the first place, or the carrier that delivered it. That can take forever to get somebody to cover it. JMHO!

Over the years I have had occasion to have glass replaced in certain types of gauges and have found a couple of good clock and watch makes that can and will do the work quite reasonably, so you might check around and see if you have an older traditional clock maker in your area and he might be able to replace the glass for you.

Thanks I will give that a whirl, thing is it was for a barometer and had the adjustable dial on it so the glass has a hole, harder to find a lens with the hole.

Glass is actually quite easy to drill, I used to make ground glass viewing screens for large format film cameras and have several specialty drills around here for various sizes, if you can't find someone locally, I would be more than happy to drill it for you, I could probably replace the glass for you as well as I have done some in the past as well as taking some of my stuff to a clock maker, I would just have to dig my tools out.
