I just wound up with an old Powerwinch anchor windlass. It's a model 410C and is a capstain style windlass. It's 110V AC powered. (Yes, you read that correctly.) It works fine but I have no use for it and wanted to know what one would do with a unit like this. Do the big boats use 110V somewhere on board for anything other than living quarter items? Why would this thing be set up as a 110 unit to start with?
It has enough power to pull down a house but it's useless to me.

Hook it up to the breaker panel at home, pull down the house next door...just to see if it will "pull down a house"...

Big boats use 120VAC all over the place, as well 240, even 440. They'll also have 24, 36, and even 48VDC systems...
