dont fog the carbs for winterizing?

my mechaic told me not to fogg the carbs for winterizing he told me to run until it runs out of gas and spray the the cylinders only and only change the bottom end oil every second year. i have a 70hp 1989. just wondering what everyons opinions is for this . thanks

fing a new MECH. change lower oil before the first freeze, or you could have a cracked lower unit. disconnect fuel line, drain carbs, and spray fogging oil into cylinders.

I agree. Get a new mechanic. I change the LU oil every fall before freeze up as one year I did not and the water in it froze and cracked the LU.

I also put stabilizer in the fuel before running it out. Some will stay in there somewhere I always believe.

And I like to fog while it's running. It gets the oil on the crank and rods where you need it for storage.
