after my marina redoing my helmut head again last fall (93 DP290, 5.0b), the trim gage worked, but was off from what I was used to. No biggy, just readjust my thinking, right? But after only a couple hours of use, the gage pinned itself in the up position.

Well spring is here, and I had them look at it, and they "believe" the sending unit is bad. I don't buy the coincidence myself, so I farted around with it a bit, and I got it to work, "somewhat". If I moved the sending unit 45 degrees to the right(port), the gage now showed down (which it was). But after bringing it up, the would pin again before the drive was barely off the ground.

MY question: can a sending unit go partially bad?
or did my marina not set it all up right when they reassembled it? which is what I think

Also, there seems to be no way of removing the sending unit without removing the helmut head again. Is this correct, or do you do of any little tricks? Thanks
