doing some fall mantenance and ummm....

ok so i havent ran the boat in a few weeks got a little chilly here in south florida to hit the water. so today i decided to give her some tlc. i changed the battery to a nice new deepcycle, and lubed some areas up and some rust proof etc.. i started her up on the hose to let her run for 10 or so, i noticed as it started some oil spurt out of the exhaust ports. mainly the left one. some black oil crap came out mixed in with the water for a split second then all good nice and clear water. i checked the oil pan with the dip stick no water in oil. this normal after not being used a little while?

i want to add the idle was higher then normal as well. it was 1000rpm idle when its usually at around 700rpm. temp was 160 so it wasnt cold.

Too chilly in S. Florida to boat??? . You should try it up here in the north
Providing it was only a small amount of oil it could be "normal".
Possible connection between "black stuff" in exhaust, and high idle, would be a carb idle mixture problem.
Any smoke in exhaust when engine is warmed up? Does it burn much oil usually?

has never burned oil once. oil has stayed at the full mark for about 3 months and about 30hrs. it was such a small amount of oil i figured it was normal. it has done this beofre once that i had noticed but i just wanted to make sure it was normal. the idle screw has never been touched. no smoke ever when the engine is warmed up, engine runs a like a dream. it is chilly! i am from toronto canada born and raised but having been down here for 4 yrs my blood has thinned out a bit so 15 is considered cold to me now lol. its about 22 today and its cold to be on the water.

You'll just have to put a jacket on
I wouldn't worry about the oil. The high idle is probably a coincidental problem from sitting a few weeks. See what it's like after your next trip ( when the weather warms up )

Ayuh,.... Sounds completely normal to Me,...

The sludge is just that, combustion sludge, 'n condensation, maybe abit of oil, probably not...

The hi-idle was probably the choke, Not lettin' off, 'n causin' a rich condition...
