We like to take our lab to the river. I am looking for a dog loading ramp or ladder to get her back into the boat. Many designs for sale on the internet with reviews. Wanted to see if anyone in the forum has any experience or advice on which product to buy and to stay away from.

We looked at a couple of 'em, but felt like ultimately they took up a lot of room in the boat. We opted to put a lifejacket on the dog with handles on it so we can hoist 'em back up on the swim deck. Current dog is a medium sized lab, but my golden who passed this year was banking in at about 100#.

I'm a duck hunter and have used various dog ladders/steps/slides. The biggest problem is the amount of room they take up in the boat. It's not so much a problem for duck hunting but for a day of boating and cruising and/or fishing it's a problem. They do work well though but you will have to get in the water at first and train and assist your dog to use it.
My lab goes everywhere with me and when we go boating and fishing I just pull into shore a few times a day to let him swim.
I like the previously mentioned suggestion of a doggie life jacket with handles on top.

Have been using a Paws Aboard for many years. It works great for all the dogs we have had. Even works when tied up for other dogs coming to visit. I modified it for easier attachment and removal on the boarding ladder. As others mentioned it does take up quite a bit of room, but is light plastic. Is about 3.5x1x.6 folded up
