does worn driveshaft need replacing?

Hey guys I am having some leakage in my lower unit in my 63 28hp I am getting a seal kit but my driveshaft is worn around the seal area , so my question is will the new seal take up the gap or should I replace the driveshaft or is there another seal I can put in with a smaller I.D?

About all you can do is replace the seal and then pressure test it. If it still leaks, it's d/s time.

Thanks boobie, I replaced the seal and it is fine just took it for a test run no sign of water , Also if it helps anyone else when I put the seal back in the wear spot wasnt in the same place as the factory seal so it didnt matter that the shaft was worn a bit. this is good because they dont offer that driveshaft anymore.

Can you use a speedi-sleeve? (readi-sleeve?)
