Go when you want to go...unless the low tide beaches your launch/slip.

Depends on the ramp. If you go at low tide is there enough water and is the ramp long enough to get at deep enough water. If you back off the end of a concrete ramp, you'll play he77 getting the axle up on the ramp again.:)

Depends on the ramp, alot of ramps have a drop off where the concrete ends, its from prop wash. Its called "power loading" getting the boat up on the trailer using alot of throttle. The result is a sharp drop off ,bad enough and your tires drop off the end,you load the boat...and go nowhere. spinning tires to rim. other than that it doesnt matter,as long as theres lots of water and enough ramp.

I used to dunk my boat at Kent Narrows on the Chesapeake ( across from Red Eye Dock Bar ;) )

The current moves pretty good thru there so it was always easier to do when the tide was changing. But I did it whenever I wanted the boat in the water but make sure you either tie your rope to a cleat or have a good hold on it.

Ramps can be very slippery, so at high tide your tow vehicle may have better traction as it will be working on the area that is wet the least amount of the time. What size boat? I guess that would be mostly a retrieval issue with a heavy combo.

thanks guys!,would it be a stupid thing to tie a rope to the trailer and let the boat in with just me holding the rope on the slip?

Elaborate ^^^^ sounds like you might have a good plan, but it is unclear what you mean by "tie to the trailer" and "just me holding". Do you mean a line that secures the boat to the trailer and one that you use to guide it to the courtesy dock? That might be a perfect plan. Are you talking about launching alone? What size boat is very important to these questions . . . ;)

go watch how other people do it. Ramps and slip are different.

Disregard the ones who do it wrong!
