Does anyone make a quality toaster anymore?

I bought a two slice toastmaster toaster for around forty some dollars and it lasted only 2-3 years. I took it apart and the latch that keeps the bread down was made of plastic and worn out.I junk that toaster and buy a cheap $12 toaster at wallyworld and now after just a few months the bread won't stay down. Whats up with this junk, does any company make a good toaster? I'm considering buying an old metal toastmaster off eBay.

Emmett on the Andy Griffith Show would be out of a job in his "Fix'It" shop nowadays. Nothing is repairable,it's all throw away. GRRRRRR

Maybe 5-10 slices of toast a week is all. Maybe I just have bad luck with appliances because I was having coffee maker troubles there for awhile.

I gave up on those. I bought a toaster-oven and I'll never go back.

I find the toaster ovens dry the bread interior to much. My toaster is a piece of crap...It works but there is no cancel and manually lifting the toast is akin to operating a handyman jack.

OMC:
You just got a Friday toaster. Probably made non-union for less than .25 an hour. I have a Wally world one made in some country I never heard of and it’s lasted 6-7 years now. Coffee pot is a different story.

I just bought a kitchen-aid for about 35 bucks. They make a pretty quality product. I hope this one lasts. It toasts very evenly, but it is brand new. good luck. m.

I bought my daughter a Rival brand toaster years ago when she started college. When she finished school about a decade ago she gave it back. It has one anoying proplem, it bounces the toast off the ceiling. I'm sure I could fix it but it does make me pay attention, something my wife couldn't make me do. ;)

my last toaster I got at an estate sale for $5.00, best one I have had it looks really old, but toasts even on both sides. Thats something that none of the new toasters I have bought would do.

This, "nothing ever lasts" business is exactly why I am simplifying everything I have to tackle to repair around this 1947 year home. I’m tired of this nonsense! You go through all the time, trouble and expense of bringing something home and then set it up and, poof, it conks out on ya! Disgusting!

Patricia - Home repair expert wanna-be.

Heres the update. My new to me 1953 toaster toasts really well but for some reason will not pop up. I clicks when the toast is done but doesn't pop up.As Pa Kettle says, " gonna fix that one of these dayz."
