Don't worry. I have 50 years experience in this sort of thing, and I can't figure out how to put the wires back on your boat either from those three images.

Next time, make a detailed sketch before you take the old switch out. Or, take a few close-up color images with a digital camera.

As for the Carling switch you bought, I don't think it will work. It looks like it is an ON-OFF-ON(Momentary) action switch. That won't be useful for controlling your navigation lamps.

When you get a Carling switch, do not throw away the bubble-pack package. On the back there will be a diagram of the switch action and a legend explaining what each terminal is connected to in the switch. Without that you are lost. That's where you are now. You don't know how the switch is wired and you don't know where the existing wires were connected to the old switch.

You can make a few inferences about the wires from their insulation color. But it is best to check the circuit carefully, and identify what each wire is connected to.

looks like fun but like jh says that's a non maintained (Momentary) switch so the lever will not stay up or down and will return to center which is the wrong switch to start with. other wires can be easy to I.D if you have a digital volt meter.

so the switch will stay up or down when toggled and will not return to the center on its own?

also do you have a volt meter as a educated guess may blow a few fuses

Here is how a six-terminal switch is wired:

Yours just adds terminals for the internal light. You need to figure out the color coding of the wires, though.

you are not the first person that has been unable to find a carling drawing.

terminals 1-2-3 are spdt with 2 being common
terminals 4-6 are the light
terminals 7-8-9 are spdt with 8 being common

Good information. I spent ten minutes searching with GOOGLE for any information on the Carling switch. I just installed a Carling switch on my boat, another model, and on the back of the bubble-pack there was a very small drawing that showed the contacts. I had to get a magnifying glass to read it. It was a good thing I did not throw away the package.

The wire insulation colors may be useful, but don't bet on them. You need to check them with a meter. Here are some guesses, based on the insulation colors:

The lamp ground may be the conductor with YELLOW and marked 10;

The sidelight lamp may be the conductor with GRAY and marked 7

The all-round lamp may be the conductors with GRAY with BLUE STRIPE and marked 8 and 9;

The lamp power may be the conductors with BLUE and marked 5 and 6.

These are just guesses. If you know anything about electricity and own a voltmeter-ohmmeter, you can figure this out in about five minutes. Once you think you have identified the sidelight lamps and all-round lamp circuit, apply +12-Volts to them and see if the lamps illuminate.
