Hi I am new to this forum and boating for that matter. I am looking at a boat but can't find any info on it. It is a 1989 Barron fish/ski boat. I am going to go look at it this weekend and wanted to know a value on it. I tried looking it up online but can't find anything on Barron boats. Any help would be very appreciated! Thank-you in advance.

HIN on the back of the boat (usually stamped into the transom) or on the registration will help you determine the manufacturer of the boat. Hallett Boats in CA has/had a Barron, but I can't find much more than that.

With used boats it's about condition. Make and model don't mean too much really. Good stuff HERE on what to look for when buying.

Hard to tell much from 1 picture, but it's a pretty boat and looks clean. Is there a link?

Welcome aboard.

No link to the boat. Does it look like it would be a 4000 dollar boat as long as it is good condition?

Hard to say from what's there.

If it's in outstanding condition - nothing soft, nothing rattling, runs like a champ and the seats look hardly used - maybe $4k is okay. In my area I'd be looking a little lower on a 24 year old boat (more like $3k).

If it's in really good shape - Mercruiser or Volvo outdrive - runs well and appears well kept, then you may have paid a little much at $4k, but probably didn't get completely raked over the coals (in other words: you'll make bigger mistakes in your life).

How does it seem to compare to other boats in your area?

Similar boats in style and age are averaging around 3500.i have a Toyota pickup up for sale for 4200 and he wants to trade the boat for it. It's the style of boat I've been kinda looking at, kinda wanted a bass style boat but they don't have enough seating, so I think this would be close. I guess it all depends on condition when I look at it this weekend.

Remember that boat is over 24 years old, seems kind of high priced just based on age, but every boat is valued mostly by condition. Could be worth it, but most are worn down a bit after 24 years. It's an I/O and it seems very small in length, like 15-16 footer yes?

Lund makes a Barron model, but that's not a Lund boat, or one I have ever seen. It's a buyers market here in MI. not sure about where you are.

It's an 18 footer, I just can't find any info on it anywhere. If it's in perfect shape I will have him put some cash on top if it needs work I think I'm gonna walk away. Thanks for all the input. If there is any more opinions or comments I'd welcome them.

Don't be afraid to walk away: it's not an uncommon kind of boat.

If you think it's really in great shape, and you can get down closer to that $3k zone - I'd be more inclined to go for it.
