What are the schools of thought on using a de-carb spray product on a outboard. My engine is a 1990 mariner 150, should I try it?

After you've done your search, I think you'll find that most of us are firm believers in regular de-carbing of our motors. I certainly am.

Re: Does anyone de-carb?

i just recently decarbed a 89 johnson 150 gt. prior to de-carb i was getting surging and low mph. decarbed-changed plugs and added a fuel tuner. i was hitting 42mph before decarb now i am running 58-60mph(no other adjustments). so i am a believer in de-carbing

Re: Does anyone de-carb?

We decard motors all the time and it certianlly helps the majority. Most are set up at around 5500 rpm. I never have decarb'd any of mine. But the crossflows are set up at 6000 rpm and the loopers are set up at 7000+ rpm. They dont coke up. And they all have several hundred hours or more on them.

Something to ponder.......
