Does a 96 Johnson 50HP have "fast start"

Does any one know if a 1996 johnson 50hp has the "Quick start" feature that advances the timing? J50TLEDS is the engine number, I cant seem to find that info anywhere in my Seloc manual or owners manual. THx

Good question. And one that I don't have an exact answer for.My 96' 70 hp however is eqipped with the quickstart feature.If you have the original owners manual that was supplied with your engine however,the procedures for cold startup might reveal your answer.If it instructs you to place the controls in a fast idle position for all cold startups ,then it likely does not have the quickstart feature.That,.. plus if there is no mention of it in the manual.Sorry I can't help more.:redface:

Thanks OB, I am a bit baffled on this I will give BRP a call to find out. I used the Joe Reeves Method of WOT Timing after setting the timing advance lever to factory spec, and it was right on, only problem was I didn't disconnect the "Quick Start:" cuz I couldn't find it. Not sure if this motor has it. Thanks again, I will post what I find

So I called Johnson / Evinrude this mornign 847-689-7090, and although their "Waiting recording" says that they only offer tech assistance on 1997 and Newer I got a great guy that dug out a Johnson Factory Tech Manual and indicated that ........
......A 1996 50HP J50TLEDS DOES NOT HAVE "Quick Start".
