I have an 06 60 bigfoot four stroke EFI. It keeps acting like its running out of gas. I have put all new gas lines on all the way back to the tank. Went out today again. Can run about 1800 rpm just fine, any higher and It runs out of gas. Primer bulb is soft. If I pump it up, away we go till it runs low again. New mechanical fuel pump. I feel I have an air leak in my gas line??? So I wanted to eliminate as many connections as possible.. thus eliminating my primer bulb, I could get rid of 3 possible leaks maybe more. Or is there any substitute for a primer bulb?

Squeezing bulb and it picks up is sign of a weak fuel pump.

Yes, an electric fuel pump. I just installed one in my engine (different than yours) because I installed a water separating fuel filter and with the plumbing and all I wound up with minor starvation problems.... Prior to installing the filter (just because I though it would be a good idea) already had a new fuel pump kit, new bulb and inlet hose (which is still intact), fuel lines, fuel filters and all that. In the service manual my fuel pump runs 4-6# so I found a suitable pump (https://www.ebay.com/itm/283673567527) and installed it after the new filter...so that the filter would filter the inlet and didn't use the small inlet filter supplied with the pump.

I powered it off the red/purple stripe wire from the remote control which is 12V switched power....power only when the key is in the ON or START position. When I get ready to start the engine I just turn the key to ON and wait a couple of seconds and roll over to START...bingo fires right up. I do use the primer push in the key function for cold starts initially on an outing mainly since my boat sits for a month or so between outings, may not have to but just do anyway....no biggie.

This is a flow through pump so the engines fuel pump and original fuel lines still in the circuit. The pump is connected between the outlet of the 24 gallon built in tank and the bulkhead where the squeeze bulb fuel line connects to the boat proper . Very happy with the modification. Also you don't have to pump up the bulb any longer....the electric pumps up the fuel line for you and you have a firm bulb.
