Looking for additional info.. Does anyone know if there is any legal recourse I can take against my Marina (in NYS) who has limited my guests to 6 per day on my 390 yacht cruiser? I generally take family out during the days.. and my friends at night..

Yer screwed. Their marina, their rules. Gonna have to pick them up somewhere else.

They can limit while at their docks, but nothing is stopping you from using a public place for pickup and drop off.

That’s the craziest thing I’ve ever heard of. How do they police such a thing? Is it related to enough car parking space at the marina?

its related to cameras at each gate, feedback from the gate lock codes, parking, etc.

generally each vessel is given a gate code, so if one vessel gets 4x the traffic another does, they look at the security camera feed.

that, and private marinas can pretty much do as they want to limit people.

Your recourse is to find a different marina. Tell them you will be taking your business elsewhere with rules more to your liking.

I missed about 7 years of law school and nothing like getting legal or even medical advice from a boating forum. But here I go. What exactly are your losses? And what would you sue them for? As someone said their marina their rules. As long as those rules fall within the laws of the land. If you did take them to court, and as I asked what would your law suit read like, I could hear them say " We no longer need your business." and then you would be looking for a different marina to park your barge. Then you can sue them for giving you the boot.
