For those of us that find it difficult or too expensive to moor IN Ft. Lauderdale, there is a very simple solution. Just south of Ft. Lauderdale are Dania and Hollywood Beach. Rates are more than reasonable. The waterways are well-marked and plenty deep.
With a little time and patience you can find space that will not send you crying when you get the bill.
If you need assistance you can call me at
(954)457-8557 or (954)260-1724 cell. Ask for Matt Domke.

Is there a similar safe/secure place to leave a car/trailer for a week or so while a fellow takes his boat to the Bahamas?

Nick, give this a try.We stay at a hotel every Feb. in Pompano Beach.Across the street is intracoastal access and the hotel has a few hundred feet of dock they lease out.I believe the guy that leases it lives on a boat there. There is always a slip or two open and it is very secure. Most people dont even know it is there because it is behind the hotel parking lot and tennis court.the hotel phone # is 954 785 3300.If you cant get any info from the desk clerk ask for Gulcan[pronounced Gooshon]She probably can help you.Let me know how you make out. There are other transient marinas I know of and a slip behind a friends house in Lighthouse point.CC
