Re: Dock Bumpers
Here is a way to make a quick easy and cheap dock fender. All of the meterial can be found at Home Depot or Lowes.
2x6 Pressure treated lumber
4" corragated black drainage hose
outdoor carpet, do not get the green grassy stuff, splurge for the better grade.
Cut a length of the black drainage hose 20" shorter then then 2x6.
Cut a section of carpet 10" shorter the the 2x6.
Center the hose on the 2x6, then wrap the carpet over the hose, nailing the carpet on the backside of the 2x6.
I start by nailing the one edge of the carpet to the 2x6, then wraping the carpet over the 2x6 and hose then nailing the other edge. You want the carpet very tight over the hose.
You should have 5" of 2x6 exposed on each end of the 2x6, that you can drill and then bolt to the edge of the dock.
You make the 2x6 any lenght you want but anything more the 8' gets hard to work with, and hard to secure to the dock.
