I removed the lower unit to replace my impeller on a 7.5 mercury. I am currently stuck, because I can't figure out how to remove the impeller from the water pump case. I removed the top of the water pump casing, but I am unable to remove the impeller and metal nut that are on the drive shaft. The impeller for this particular water pump has a metal center with the rubber impeller. Thanks

If it's been there for alotta years, you may need to split it off. Small chisel right down the brass core sleeve. Removing the propeller wouldn't help. I use two screwdrivers on opposite sides to pry first. If it's siezed in place, the splitting option works best.
