do you need to pull outdrive to do alignment

1998 3.0 volvo sx<br /><br />quick question, for one to align motor with outdrive, does one need to pull outdrive to check or is it an easy check with alignment tool???<br /><br />I have manual but not with me.<br /><br />Thanks

the alignment tool can only be used with the drive removed<br /><br /><br />tommays
