I bought a tohatsu 2.5 that appears like it is from the 90's for $100 and all that was done to it was someone had painted the cover. it starts with one pull with the choke off even when it is cold. i have not used it yet(only in a bucket of water) but i love it.

how do you like your small tohatsu??

I have a i Toh/merc 2004 4HP 2 stroke that has about 1 hour on it it is always a 1 pull start and runs perfect

On the dark side the single cylinder puts some pretty anoying harmonic vibrations through the sailboat hull at some RPMs compared to my last 2 cylinder motor

Well, its not large, and its not as small as a 2.5 hp, but I love my Tohatsu 9.8 four stroke. Dependable, quiet, efficient, trouble free, great bang for the buck and looks great.

I restored a older NS 3.5 B and it is a sweet little motor.

Kayakn, isn't that the motor that holds the world record for the smallest motor to cross the Atlantic ocean with, whale pushing a 20' boat.
It took it 29 days, running it 21 hrs per day (or something like that)
However that says a lot about that little engine. I also have a Tohatsu, but its a monster compared to yours, mine is a 6 HP 4 stroke, with 2 hrs on it so far, and I love it. Im thinking about the Pacific, what do you think?
