Do you have to get it in the boat to count it?

I always only counted the fish I actually boated (of course by nightfall or next day I might have rounded up to the next 5, or 10, or dozen), but a couple guys I fished with not long ago counted every strike as a "fish." I know these guys fish some tournaments so I guess that makes sense as far as evaluating lures & hotspots.

Just wondering how everybody else counts their fish.

Myself and anyone that I know would only count what you get in the boat. for tournament pre-fishing some people refer to the number bites they had.

My fishing buddy and I are extremely competitive with each other when bass fishing. If it doesn't get in the boat it doesn't count. We also don't count it as a "fish" if it is under 12".

When I am fishing with my sons, anything they bring to the boat that we can see counts as a fish.

Different rules for different situations I guess.

if a fish is on and lost .. thats what it is here w/me and the guys I run with.

I usually try and keep larger muskies and northerns in the water when I unhook 'em too .. so counted fish here means contact with.

Now lemme get this straight: Some guys actually count fish they didn't bring aboard or release at boatside as caught?

Well, gol-dang! By them rules I have a couple of 50"+ muskies to brag about. And one of them was a tiger!

BRAG, BRAG, BRAG :D :D

We only count the ones we keep. That way I don't have to keep track of all the trash fish LF catches :D

LMAO .. yea would be like us here talking to Walleye fishermen and replying to a day out on the water as having caught five dozen fish between 15" and 32"..

.. never letting on that 3 dozen where Sheepshead, 1 dozen were Carp and the 12 walleyes caught consisted solely of that 15" class.

:D :D

I'm gonna burn for this .. :D
