do outboards charge the batteries?

pardon the dumb question, do outboard motors charge the batteries while running? I have a 1986 3-cyl Yamaha 40 HP. BTW, i have 2 batteries with the 1-2-all-off switch.

Properly installed and rigged, most outboards charge the battery, Ampmn.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . .<br />JB
