Boy a friend of mine that I had not seen in about 6 months drops by for a drink last night, and we are talking about guns. He had never heard of a "Bump Fire" So we head out in the front yard, where I proceed to show him how it works. I bump off a magazine, he says, ok, let me try it!!

Well he gets the hang of it right away, unloads a 30 rounder as fast as he can and goes to hand the rifle back to me! it slips and is heading for the ground, I reach and grab so it doesn't fall................................................... and you guessed it, I caught by the barrel! Yikes!!!! after 60 rounds in less than 2 minutes, I have two very large blisters in the web between my thumb and forefinger...

So as the title says, standard warning, don't try this at home boys and girls!

Ouch, yeah after 60 rounds going through the barrel would have made it scorching red hot,Keep that hand soak in ice as the pain is going to be there for awhile till you get some new skin growth over the wound..I have burnt my left leg so bad one time I almost lost it to 3rd degree burn, when I was really young,I was with my younger brother and we where doing some camping in the woods by my parents home,I was bring some gas in a small can something in the size of a 2 cans of soup,I was walking along with no problem till my foot stumble into a rock sticking up close to where the camp fire was and then of course I fell right into the campfire dropping the can of gas all over my leg..

It was a very stupid mistake on my part putting gas in a can with no lid,I was young and foolish at that time and believe me I learn one hell of a lesson..

The weird part was I really never felt any pain till I went to the ER where they pulled all the dead burnt skin off,man talk about feeling pain,I can to this day remember that ER visit..

The things we have all done when we where young, this would have been at least 34 years ago for me..

Hope your hand recovers from this as I am sure it will take some time to heal, the worse part is trying to not use your hand till it does heal enough so you can use it.....

Call your local Dr and get some silvardene and that will absolutely help. Ouch!

It's good to know you still have the reflexes and hand speed to grab the rifle........ and I am sure if it hit the ground you would have been trying to remember......how many push-ups that would have been paid in the old penalty range :)

Yes, I am the only one who has gotten burned doing special effects and I used to keep silvardene in my medicine cabinet.

Normally when I get burned, I use DMSO with Aloe in it, works pretty good to take the pain away and minimize any scars.

I have heard it said, when speaking of the fear and pain of dying by fire, that you feel no pain while you burn. It is the aftermath that is excruciating. I heard this from a heavily scarred and disfigured Vietnam helicopter pilot back in the 70's. He should have known, huh?

My .223 has a tactical handle, my .300 does not, I have bi-pods on both of them and they both will use the same bump fire stock if I choose to swap back and forth. I won't bump the .300, too expensive, even with reloading them..

expensive either in time or money. What do you like for magazines? Or should I just wait and pick some up at a gunshow? What would be a good price for them?

I have all kinds of magazines, 12 standard metal army issue mags, that I got for about $6 each from PSA, Then I have 10 Troy Battle Mags, they are poly, I think I got them for $8 each and I have 17 PMAGS that I got for $8.99 each, there is a section on ar15.com that is devoted to all the buys that people find on the internet, it is a good place to keep up to date on what is going on in the AR industry, hundreds of thousands of member and all kinds of different opinions, some very nasty people and some great people. But a great website for getting information.

Do you have a preference amongst what you have? I googled AR15 mags and there is an astounding variety. You wonder how they all stay in bidna! (that is south central LA speak) I'll try to find this 'PSA'.

PSA = Palmetto State Armory, pretty good company for parts, pieces and such. I like the metal ones, they are the ones that have been around the longest as well as I still believe the metal GI mags are a bit more durable. If a feed lip gets deformed, you can actually repair it. Many people love the PMAG, and they claim they have never broke a feed lip, time will tell. I find the metal GI mags to be the least expensive the one that came with my rifle is a D&H and the metal ones I have purchased have been D&H, I think PSA has them for around $7 right now, you can find them from $6.99 up, when you purchase buy at least 10 at a time, often you will get a better break on price and sometimes shipping. I know guys that buy cases of a hundred of them at a time.

I just went on the PSA website. It seems like most everything listed under AR15 mags is out of stock. If you could look and identify exactly which ones you got, if they have them in stock, I will buy some.

$12.59 is way to much to pay for them, between $6 and $9 is what they have been going for, I will do some more looking and see what I can find.
