Do I need gaskets for water pump housing?

This is about a straight six Volvo Penta AQ165.A friend of mine tried to repair his waterpump,then in the middle had to move and during the move he lost the housing and forgot what it looked like.
I got him a new housing and all the innards,but upon installing it he did not remember whether the surface of the pump and the surface of the water pipes have gaskets where they seal together or whether there are grommets on the 2 pipes where they go into the water pump housing.
Can somebody please tell me what if anything there is needed to hook the water pipes to the pump housing ?

When you say water pump, is that a raw water pump, or the engine circulation pump.
Gaskets and seals are a ONE time use item and should be replaced when dissassembled.

PS to anyone reading this thread. A Volvo 165 is NOT a Chevy 6 cylinder. It's a Volvo 6 cylinder.

Mine never leaked when I installed it, but I used Permatex Blue on the water circulating pump (the one on the engine).

I did not put anything on the hoses except for the clamps.

Sorry for not making myself clear. It is a raw water pump.
Everything inside the pump housing is new.The question is whether the surface that hooks up with the water intake and outlet needs either grommets or a gasket or if liquid gasket maker will do.

New seals. Doesn't need sealer, they are rubber.
