Hello,
Ive got a 16 foot 1990 Maxum Bowrider with the stock 2-cyl 1990 50hp Force outboard. It also still has the stock prop on it.
I know the engine is underpowered for the boat, and ive heard that the late 80s to early 90 Force engines are all underpowered, besides which ive learned that the lower unit was the same for all 25-50 Hp engines of that time period, and have a similar small prop (sorry im not up on the terminology), which dosnt exhaust through the hub.
Im trying to make the most out of what ive got, and would like to pull a tube or possibly wakeboard, but it seems i dont have the hole shot to get the person up and the boat on plane. Im right on the edge of being there power wise, i can get a 150lb person on the tube up and boat on plane, but with that person driving and me (260lbs) on the tube, im basically a sea anchor. Very funny but not very fun.
Is there any choice i could make in respects to props that would give me significant improvement in my ability to raise a tuber/wakeboarder, or do i need to look to trim tabs, or ultimatly a bigger engine. I do have a "fin thingy" on the engine above the prop to help with planing.
Thank you all in advance! =)
