The best I can tell ya DR, is that Yanks always strive to keep their own body count down, in battle!Originally posted by Dunaruna:
I don't know about the rest of the Aussies here but I just can't seem to get the rules and whats with all the armour?

That being said - gotta love any sport that involves bodies crunching each other.

I watch it.

Aldo
Yeah, yeah, yeah! We already know how civilized you guys are. Learned that in the firearm thread a while back.Originally posted by lark2004:
Our guys hardely ever get seriously injured, only the occasional concusion, or boken bone. If you learn how to tackle right, it's pretty safe.
The surgeons who specialise in knee and shoulder reconstructions might disagree with you I think.

AldoOriginally posted by lark2004:
If you learn how to tackle right, it's pretty safe.
Your game has too many interruptions for our tastes.

But it is fun seeing 300lb gorillas in helmets and armour who can do 100 yards in even time run into each other. It's even better when they run into unprotected people on the sidelines and knock lots of them over.

If you want to see video of our Aussie Rules code, go here and click on Audio and Video on the left sidebar: http://afl.com.au/

It's probably about as foreign to you as your game is to us although there are Yanks playing Aussie Rules in the US: http://www.usfooty.com/usfooty/Originally posted by Boomyal:
..or is it just a Ho-Hum Yank pasttime??
