DIY boat storage stand?

Been searching around but haven't found anything to meet my needs. Looking for a DIY solution to store a boat for restoration.

I have a boat on a trailer, and the rainy season is coming, so I cleaned my garage and figured I would put it there. Problem is, the garage itself is big enough for the boat, but the door isn't wide enough to fit the trailer, AND the door can't close with the trailer. So the trailer can't get into the garage at all.

Ideally, I'f find a DIY stand that will allow me to back the trailer up to the garage door, and slide/roll the boat onto the stand. And ideally I'd be able to do work on the boat while on the stand.

Boat weight probably 7-800 pounds.

Any pointers on how to look or any other pointing in the right direction would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

I noticed yesterday that Harbor Freight had some square wooden floor Dolly's with wheels at each corner for about $8 each....maybe you could get a couple and modify with 2X4 studs or other to cradle/accommodate/move your boat?... Maybe use a dead fall pulley or floor jacks to pick up boat?...

Yep
WoodOnGlass has a good cradle built under his Blue Flamingo build.

Several good examples

Unless the 2 boats are exactly the same, cradles will be slightly different sizes/layout so no 2 are exactly the same.

had the same issue. Slid mine off trailer onto four 6"x6" - two on each side - w/moving mattes doubled over the wood. Boat is 15'4" and not quite a flat bottom boat. You may need more or want more ground clearance?
Releasing trailer from truck and getting the tongue up high, it slid easily (well...... hahahhaaa) onto this cradle. Perhaps better a two man operation, did it by myself!
I was in and out of it so much that being low was helpful. Including water lol probably 700lbs to begin with. Used a come-a-long and straps to roll it over.

Seems like we're a visual crowd?? pics as you progress please! and best of luck with it

My workshop has a 16' door so I didn't have the same problem. My working stands are 2x4's with the top covered with a remnant piece of carpet. If the door were too small I would have put casters on the stand and unloaded the boat in the driveway. P5122965web.jpg
