having trouble with my distributor on an aq 125 a, the weights on the centrifigal advance dont seem to have any spring to them, should those weights be tight inward and have tension to them when the engine is at idle or not even running ?
the springs are hooked up but dont seem to have any tension on them at all.
if anybody happens to know the distributors could you please give me some advice, thanks

They usually don't have any spring to them with the engine off. Just grab the rotor and move it till the weights move out and let off the rotor, they should move back in.
Then check your timing with a timing light and see that you are getting the proper amount of degrees at the right rpm. Then you will know if the springs are working properly or not.

hi don, ya when i grab the rotor and turn and let go, the the weights dont come back in.
it's funny because like i said, the springs are hooked up, but dont seem to be doing anything. the only thing i can see is that the tabs where the springs anchor to, seem to be bent inwards a little, but just a little. any thoughts ?
