Re: DISTRIBUTION BELT HONDA 75
I'll try. 1 st, why are you changing the belt ??? They are generally considered a non-wear item. I don't believe Honda recommends you change it at any particular hour interval. So, unless it's damaged, why ??? <br />But, heres how. Take the 3 10 mm screws off that hold the recoil starter on. On the aft "tower" (thats what I'll call the support pieces that the 3 screws went in), it has a "mark" on it. That is the TDC mark, top dead center for the piston. So turn the flywheel clockwise untill you see the "T" mark on the flywheel align up with that "mark" on the aft starter recoil screw "tower". Hint, if you had the spark plugs out, you could check that the pistons is at max. travel out. You may also note that the flywheel also has a "F" just next to the "T", that's at the point where the ignition spark fires when adjusting the breaker points or aligning the electronic sensor for the ignition. depending on if you have the older or newer ignition. So, again, the flywheel has a "T" for top dead center and a "F" for "Fire". Anyway, now that you have the pistons at "TDC", remove the belt, look exactly down above the camshaft. there is a slight impression, a "HOLE", about a pencil dot in size, just "forward towards the split line almost at the head gasket. It's on the cylinder head !! See it ??? That's what you align the "dot" on the camshaft pully with. Match the "dot to dot"!! Reinstall the belt, it should almost slip on. You usually have to turn the flywheel to get it on. Turn over the motor by hand and check the alignment. Mark on the flywheel to mark on starter boss and mark on cylinder head to mark on camshaft sprocket. Hope this helps !! How's things in Italia???
