Hey everyone, I just purchased my first boat and need some help, I purchased a 1976 16' Bayliner with a 1971 Mercury 1150 115 HP outboard motor, the distributer cap is broken and have not been able to order a new one as it is obsolete and nobody seems to have one, any suggestions on finding a new one, I had read one from a 71 to 77 ford 306 would work but it is different. Please help

Welcome aboard.

What part number are you looking for? Also, what's the serial number of the motor?

They are likely hard to find, but should be available. Try looking up the part number at the Crowley marine or marineengine web sites and google it, Used is another source.

Hey guys, the serial number stamped on the motor and on the tag is 4394471, when I type the number into the serial number look up I get a number does not match message, I have been to 10 or more different boating parts places online and they all say the cap is obsolete and can not be ordered, I tried a cross reference on a few of those with no results, if it weren't for the center of the cap being broke I would just clean it up and reuse it

Apparently I did not ask Google the correct way, I thank you GA_Boater for the help, I found one for 103 bucks. I won't get the boat on the water this summer but will next summer. I have a bit of work to do to it since its been sitting for a few years
