ive mounted my stainless caliper bracket so my caliper hangs from the 12 oclock position and am wondering if this is a mistake and if i should have mounted it at 9 0clock or 3 oclock ,,,,,is there a posible bad thing that will happen with the 12 oclock bit,,,, the reson i mounded them at 12 oclock is the unmounting bolts are behind the tire and fender now and harder to acsess if some one were to try and unbolt my nice stainless calipers..

In terms of operation, it doesn't matter, they can be mounted anywhere. 3 things need to be considered though - position of the bleeder screw (always to the top), position of the hose (so it doesn't foul anything), and whether or not the caliper will foul the suspension/chassis when compressed.

Most disc brakes on cars are mounted at 3 o'clock.

I just had a problem with the bleeder screw not at the top.

I bought a new caliper (from the factory), put it on and bled the brakes.

And bled, and bled, and bled. Finally realized that they factory unit had the bleeder on the bottom, and a plug in the hole at the top.

Reversed, putting the bleeder at the top and it is now fine.

Make sure bleed is at the top.
