Disguising a Suzuki as a Mercury

Hello guys. I have a 2001 bass boat with a 225 Mercury Optimax. The motor is weak and tired and I don't plan to spend any big money on a motor unless it's to upgrade to a 4 stroke. I love the original look my boat has and the era it came from...including the motor that blends in nicely with it.
The new Mercury 4 strokes would look flat out wrong on my boat but I've noticed the new Suzuki's still have a shape resembling the older 2 strokes...hood and lower unit too. I love the looks of the red stripe Mercury on my red and black boat so was wondering how possible or impossible it'd be to make my Mercury hood fit the Suzuki?
I know it sounds crazy but I've recently seen boat restorers using old vintage hoods on brand new motors. Some even have the hood re-shaped with fiberglass work to get the right shape and then apply decals desired. I was thinking maybe cut the Suzuki hood so that only 2 inches of the bottom is left and then rivet the Mercury hood to this. This would only work if the Mercury hood is slightly bigger than the Suzuki. Fill in the voids with liquid foam etc. Air intake would be the main thing to be careful with. Any helpful ideas out there?

I think it would be better to make a mold and create your own cowl but I expect an existing one could be modified to look how you want. I think modified would be quite a bit heavier.
