On my first trip, I notice one of the trailer brake rotor is very hot to touch and the bearing buddies is quite hot during one of my stops. The other side was just warm. It has always been same feel but this time it was different. The boat trailer was laid up for a while on blocks with wheels and rotor removed. Rotor stored indoors on its side. Raised the trailer and turned wheels and it seem the hot side disc brake is very slightly rubbing on the rotor. Checked outer bearings and it look fine and grease is ok. Could it be adjusted? I tow my boat and 2 year old trailer about 170 miles and I just want peace of mind. Trailer rated at 3500 lbs. and load is pretty close. Any suggestion?

Re: disc brake

I guess my first question would be what type Disc Brakes do you have?
Tie Down Disc know for getting frozen out against the rotor durning the off season if you boat in salt water.

I am replaceing mine this year. They were new in June of 1999. After I replace them I will tear down old calipers and see if I can repair.

Try to manually apply the brakes and see if they work to stop the wheel and then release.
