I am removing oil injection system from 2001 50 hp 3 cylinder 2 stroke. Will not having the oil level sensor plugged in cause the engine to go into limp mode or cause a warning horn to sound? Finding mixed answers to this. Thanks

If the tank level sensor (switch) does nothing, why bother having one in the first place?

The real question… is the sensor normally open or normally closed during operation?

Either way, you’ll need to jumper out the switch when you remove the level sensor. NO or NC simply determines which wires you need to jump.

Not sure if it's normally open or closed and I am not sure how to figure that out. How do I jumper the wire? Put it to a ground?

If this diagram is the correct one, you simply need to disconnect the connect leading to the sensor

So the 1st pic is near the main harness connector. There is a Grey (might have been white when new now faded) wire that comes out of the bundle in 1st pic and runs to connector in 2nd and 3rd pic. The connector in 2nd and 3rd pic has red and black wires leading directly to trim position sender. The 4th and 5th pics are the connector on the low oil sensor. This connector plugs into the connector in the 2nd and 3rd pic. Seems strange to me as well. Anybody know what's going on here?

Finger points to the Grey (may have been white when new) wire that runs to the connector that goes to trim sender. There is a pink wire from the low oil sensor that may have gone to an unplugged pink wire I found.

Maybe it's just coincidence that the oil sensor plug fits into the trim sender plug? Maybe missing the wired that would have the connector for the oil sensor to plug into? Makes no sense to me either why the oil sensor plug would plug into the trim sender

Looks like to me that the oil sensor connector remains unplugged? Just the pink wire is used. The other wires in that connector are for a Guage if being used. As for the trim sender, the connector also remains unplugged. To plug into those connectors you use 2 harnesses that would lead to the dash gages. Since I removed the oil system I just leave the pink wire from the main harness unconnected?

You could do this…or jam the float up..or leave it full. But personally speaking…that particular engine you have is one of the few engines that I probably wouldn’t remove the injection system on. Very reliable if the lines and fittings are inspected often. Not sure I’ve ever heard of the actual pump failing on those ever.
