dirty ring?

any sugestions on how to get that dirty ring u get around the bottom of the boat when you take it out the river? ive bin scrubing all morning the dirt is gone but theres a yellow shade around the hole boat. will somthing like simple green help me out or is there some kind of special boat cemical that takes it right off?

In the UK we have a cleaner called Y10 that will remove it.

However many skinflints make up a substitute by thickening a saturated or nearly saturated solution of oxalic acid with wallpaper paste.

Dunno if you have "Cillit Bang Grime and Lime" cleaner where you are but that will do it as well I believe.

Oxalic acid is very good for removing rust stains as well.

Yes Muriatic acid ( hydrochloric acid) will do it. If you really must use something that strong!
Almost any acid based scale removing cleaner will remove it in fact.

I used a mr clean pad with car wash detergent...cleaned up easy. I was initially worried that it would dull the gel coat (there must be some kind of abrasive action) so just did a small test section. After I was done, the stain was gone. Put a light coat of wax on her and she look just as good as the day I bought her.

Ive tried alot of products to clean my boat and by far the best I have found is a product called Slimy Grimy Its main active ingredient is oxalic acid. I boat the mississippi river so I know what you mean about the yellow nastiness you get on the river I bought this product at a marina on the St Croix River. Check on line ,its widely available. There is also some videos, U tube and Slimey Grimeys website to see it in action Turned my white boat bottom to like new color snow white. Non abrasive. Its the best, alot of other uses for it too Cleaning concrete etc Good Luck !

I do the same thing to the bottom of my hull that I do to the underside of my car: I hose it off and call it a day.

If I don't want to see the stain, I put the boat in the water.
