Dirty Gear Oil

I drained the gear oil from my 1997 T50's. Oil was very black with small amount of 'fuzz' on magnetic drain plug. Was planning on running engines for a few hours and then draining and refilling again.<br />Anything else I should check, or worry about?<br />Previous owner probably never changed the oil.<br />No signs of water leakage.

the fuzz is normal from the clutch dog shifting.<br />the blackness is from too long a service interval.<br />correct shifting is quickly in and out any kind of grinding is bad. workload may be a part of the dirty oil, shorten your service interval and see.<br />mercury hi performance gear oil, may give you better service life.
