I remember reading you should mount the motor with the bolt heads one dirrection on top,and opposite on the bottom but I cant find the info now.

Is there really a correct way? Im moving a motor over today, my old boat I mounted it to years ago was all bdjjolt heads on the inside

1982 70hp Evinrude outboard model: e70elcnb

I can't really imagine how it can make a difference when mounting directly to the transom, but I do recall reading there is a "correct" way.

...as far as strength I mean.

I did now just come across a mention of putting all nuts on the outside, so you can adjust the motor without removing the bolts from the transom. That makes sense to me. (too bad I just did all bolts the opposite way a few minutes ago:confused:)

Sorry, now I read your first post better. Didn't realize you were mounting the mtr to the boat. I always put the nuts on outside as it looks neater. And as you said it makes it easier to adjust the mtr height. Don't forget the sealer to save the transom.

I've seen them both ways over the years. At least you can keep an eye on your "nuts". LOL
