Hello,
New member here. Thank you all for your knowledge in advance. I recently purchased a 1974 22’ Starcraft SS. I’m going to be restoring it. I have not started yet, but I came across a fuel tank on Craigslist for $25. It’s aluminum and it is for below deck installation. I was curious if anybody knows roughly the necessary dimensions that would fit?

The dimensions of the tank are 46” x 23.5” x 8”
My concern is the width and height of the stringers. Thanks all and Merry Christmas.

Howdy and Welcome.

You will find a trove of information here, but some of it you will have to find yourself on your boat.

In the case of your question, there are a lot of variable and the depth will change depending on where you measure from. Plus is your boat built for a V shaped tank or a flat bottom tank? Anyway to cut a hole and determine what kind of tank you already have or is it topside currently?

Hi SHSU,

Thank you for your reply. The current tank is topside. I planned on having the tank in the middle but a little more to the bow. From other images I’ve seen with my boat I’m thinking a V shape. I could cut a hole and see to make certain. I may just purchase this tank 25 USA good price if it doesn’t work it’s extra fuel storage I suppose.
