I got me another Abu Garcia Dig. the other day..You can buy the kit and slap it on your current rig..<br /><br />Each year they get better.. Hepls to give actual measure down depending on size of lure and line diam..<br />

Does that mean you have to switch to bait casters? Wonder if it tells you how much back lash there is. I will make sure to bring body armor this year.

FYI - Abu Garcia currently QUIT PRODUCTION of the current model counter and are in the redesign/test phase of the new improved model.. should probably get more info in a few weeks.<br /><br />The "add-on" to the reel (grey doughnut on the left side) runs @ $30 depending where ya get it of course

Excuse the intrusion from a non-fisherman...but what the heck is it and what does it do?

its the grey part of the reel you see with the digital read-out.. what it does is tracks the amount of line (how many feet/yards) you are letting out from the reel. Its a very good tool to use for an accurate presentation and resetting bait(s) to a certain depth or length out to get back to where you had caught the previous fish. <br /><br />

I presently have five line counters,wouldnt by another level wind with out a line counter on it.Only problem i have now is when i forget to reset the counter when letting line out.

I've got 8 Okuma DX-30s.......Mechanical counters,... I Love em...<br /><br />I've tried a few different 1s,... Diawa was a nice reel for a year,+ then fell apart........<br />Got some nice Electronic 1s,+ Didn't like them.... Batteries,..... More Spare Parts,.... Don't Need It............<br />Then I tried the Shakespeare Clip-On counters,..... Still got those in the box for back-up rods.........Cheap,+ they'll work on Any Rod & Reel......
