Digital Camera Memory Card Question.

I got a bright idea that does not seem to work. I had 170 pictures from a recent trip and I have been hooking my camera up to friends TVs to show them. Many pictures were taken 90 deg off and there was no way to correct them in the camera.

Soooooooo, I off loaded the pictures onto the harddrive, ran them thru Microsoft Picture viewer, righting all the appropriate pictures.

I use a Card reader, as opposed to the camera to transfer pictures so with card in the reader I simply copied the corrected pictures back to the card.

The pictures are there but when I put the card back in the camera, it shows 'no images' just like I had deleted all the pictures on the card.

Why won't the camera recognize the re-loaded pictures?

Re: Digital Camera Memory Card Question.

When Microsoft Picture saved them, they were in a very slightly different format than the camera is used to. The camera is not capable of displaying anything it's not used to, so it just ignores them.

They are there and the camera sees them, but it doesn't understand them.

Thanks Paul, something like I figured. Do you know any way to accomplish what I tried? A different program, perhaps?

Download the pictures onto a DVD, then you can show them on any ,(well, almost), Home DVD player.

There's a possibility MS Picture Viewer didn't use the same directory or sub-directory on the camera card that the camera uses. Put the card back into the card reader and use My COMPUTER to see what's on the card and where it is. :)

Bingo SS. That was it. I took one picture on a blank card, went to see the file structure, then copied the previously attempted files back into the camera created file.

All is well now. Thanks

Lol, I guess it's not like my crummy one. Sometimes when you upload to it, it crashes so badly you have to take the batteries out. :D

Well, I spoke too soon. An initial looksee showed that the new transfer back to the card worked. Buuuuuuuuuuuut, after you display the first four or five pictures (in the camera) the screen goes to "read error".

I put the card back in the reader and looked at the pictures, right of the card drive, thru windows explore, all is ok. I brought the pictures up on the picture download program and all is ok. But once you get past the first few, while viewing in the camera, she goes bananas with the big blue screen and red ERROR.

Aw heck!

Run scandisk on the card and see what you get. Might need to be re-formatted.

Boomyal, You know what we tell the guys up in the repair forums....Post the Make and Model number... ;)
Going from the camera , thru the Photo program and back to the camera. You probably toasted the EXIF information on the pics. The photo program will strip this info that the camera uses.......

Lockan, are you sure there is no way to adjust the pic on the tv screen using the camera controls? I can rotate, zoom, etc., but the controls aren't something you'd intuitivley recognize (Casio camera). If you haven't looked closely at your manual, might be worth doing so.

Maybe it just doesn't have that functionality, but thought it worth double checking.

Re: Digital Camera Memory Card Question.

Maybe I don't understand ther problem correctly.

My Olympus says don't mess with anything on the memory card. Save the picture in your photo program, mess with it all you want and resave it on your hard drive. Just remember where you put it when you want to retrieve it.
