Twin volvo diesel TAMD41A, starboard side pumps seawater out of the exhaust at a very consistent rate at idle (it also overheats and has a lot of white smoke when cold but that's another topic). Port side looks like it holds the water back and then tosses it all out at the same time. It's wierd, the water slows to a trickle, it catches up and then just blows it out. The volumes are very comparible.

I've seen boats that do one or the other, but why on two exact engines do they behave differently?
