My engineer told me today a different prop may give a bit more power. Is this true? It appears to be an original prop that has two blades. Do you guys recommend a prop if it can be changed? Maybe something cost effective for this old motor.
The engineers that designed the motor did a very good job of supplying the best prop for the average boat the motor would be likely to be used on. Unless you have a very unusual situation, you aren't going to do much better. Besides, finding a different prop than the standard one is going to be very hard to do.
A prop with several blades will be no better than the one I have with two blades is what you are telling me? I suppose if the pitch is good, you aren't going to do much better. Thanks for the reply!
As I said, do you have an unusual situation? Like are you using it as an auxillary motor on a 24 foot sailboat? In a case like that, a flatter, three blade prop would be better. Otherwise, save your money and energy.
