Could someone please tell me the differece between a Mercruiser 350/260hp and a standard GM motor. Besides the exhaust manifolds, is there any difference. I need to replace my 230hp Mercruiser and was wanting to upgrade to a 260hp Mercruiser. I have a friend who has a 350 ,4bolt main long block and was just wondering if that would work?? Please help, I am getting the boating fever and want to get started on the transformation.

Thanks, that did clear things up a little, with blank stare on my face. Actually, I need a new block, so if I found another 305 block, why couldn't I just swap out the parts???

So besides brass freeze plugs, how is there any difference in automotive/marine motors.If i am switching all of my electrical stuff over anyway, whats the diff.
