Difference in Starcraft islander 221 and 221V

I am looking at a islander 1988. Can you tell me the difference in the 221 and the 221V models. What’s the differences? Thank you.

I am making an offer on 221V. Boat is 5 hours away. I want to know what the V means. Is is related to the hull? I want the deeper version if there is one. Thank you

If you have a photo from an ad, it should have smooth sides. Older hulls have lap strakes on the sides. All Islanders are deep from the gunnel to the deck and designed for fishing.

Doesn't the V designate the V5 hulls?

Not the later hulls. During the crossover to the V5, both the rippled and smooth sides were available, but the V hulls have different support under the deck. The V's have a lattice structure, while the ripple and V5 hulls have ribs and stringers.

You could start the thread in the the section as the Skipper, but the Starcraft section is seen by most the Starmada guys to help you along.

Ahhh.... the boat from Lexington, I thought about running down there and takin a peek last October, but the guy never answered my calls or email. Hope you got a good number on it, as his asking price to me was a bit to high. Low hour 175 certainly had potential, and the description said rotted floor. I figured transom as well. Did he include the 2 spare six gallon metal tanks? He was trying to sell them separate and again, I was in a buying mood, but couldn't get ahold of him. Hope ya did well
