Sorry this is my first post and I tried to search for an answer to my question but couldn't find what I was looking for. I am getting ready to buy a new boat with the MerCruiser 4.3L 190hp motor. What exactly is the difference between this motor and the 4.3L MPI 220hp motor besides the increase hp? Is one better than the other? Should I stay away from the carb? I don't know alot about them so I would appreciate any help. Are these good motors? Wondering if it is worth the extra $2500 and an 8 week wait time to order the MPI motor.

huh,..??

EFI is Better in that it takes less operator input,+ slightly higher hp...
It's also Much harder to diagnose when it Quits...

Fuel injected motors use less fuel.... sometimes 30% less. (thats comparing a new fuel injected engine to 15 year old carborated engines) MPI also almost eliminates maintenance and mechanical problem with fuel delivery, but like Bond-O said, most owners don't have diagnostic tools to troubleshoot if something does go wrong.
