I've got a 2,200 pound 22 foot Starcraft Islander with a 4.3 liter 185 HP. It works OK, except for dieseling, but am thinking of replacing it with the cummins 1.7 turbo diesel in order to get the range to go after tuna. I read a popular mechanics article that showed the 1.7 got better than 6 mpg and delivered 34 mph on a heavier bayliner trophy. It's going to be a lot of $ so I like to know if anybody has some advice.
