I have a 2000 Yamaha 130hp that I used last year for the first time(Was a 2 year old left-over)and put about 125 hours on it. All I did last year was change the plugs. One thing led to another and it has been sitting since mid-November without having been winterized, nor was the fuel stabilized. Where should I start? It was running like new on my last outing, so the engine is in over-all good shape. Does adding stabilizer, or any other additive after the fact help?

First thing I would do is change the lower unit oil. Since it is a new motor hopefully no water got in it. If you live in a cold climate and have water in your lower unit you risk the chance of cracking. I would remove the fuel and add fresh gas. Sitting for a few months with gas in the carbs nay have caused them to gum uo. Clean your carbs. Change your spark plugs and your impeller.

Good luck

Stabilizer will not help now. wouldn't get to the fuel hose and engine anyway.
Fuel may be the only question. Unmixed fuel is not too quick to go really bad.
Dump it, particularly if it smells bad; or
Test for water, there are kits.
Use Water Zorb type product to mix water in old gas.
If it is carbed, Yamaha mixes the oil after the carb, Thus you do not have the oil/fuel mix to clog up the carb.
Check these and other ideas, add new fuel, and try it. If you have a fuel water separator, check or change the filter now and if practical, after a few minutes of running.
OR you can take it to the dealer and have them check it over.
Time passes quickly.
