Was looking for that 21 15/16" from the "top of the gearcase cover", at the base of the shift rod? Did put the tape measure on the lower end surface and readings didn't seem close. But maybe in 6 or 7 turns they would. Exactly which surface am I supposed to measure from, to the hole on top? And this did come off the same engine. But the shift rod got "played with" while apart But the guy had a 120 Johnson for parts and I was thinking maybe he switched rods or something.
