Saturday I tried to play a tape (fishing partner) made for me. Nothing but black and white snow.
Then a message poped up saying the heads needed to be cleaned.
Well I know he is tech challanged with anything except a tv remote. :)
So I put in a tape I had just watched Friday and the same thing.
Tried commerical tapes and all the same.

So I picked up a head cleaner tape.
The instructions said to run the tape twice.

If it did not fix the problem the unit needed to be taken into to be serviced.
Running the tape anymore would not help.

Same thing!

Well we all know that a tv we bought years ago for 200.00 wasnt going to be worth getting fixed. (money wise)

So I ran the cleaner tape two more times. Three total.
I actually got a very faint picture for about two seconds. Then back to black and white snow.

Since I was watching tv for the next two hours.Chuck and Heros. Every commerical I would run the tape twice. Sometimes
four or five times on fast forward.

Note:
After the first hour of commericals I tried playing a tape and got all of the pictures but they were very faint and jumped up and down.
After the second hour I put in a known bad tape for the first minute. I always start the timer with it one minute early because for the
first minute you can not see anything.

PERFECTOE !!! Even the first minute of the tape.

I just hate this day and age where it is cheaper to replace than to repair.
This time I got lucky by not following the instructions.

How much wear and tear did I do to the heads? Unknown.

There is a price for everything you do.

Try some long Qtips and alcohol to clean the heads, works better and alot easier on the heads

Thanks, good idea. Since it is built into the tv I would like to keep it going for awhile.
