Did I Unplug the Wrong Thing?

I recently converted to pre-mix, and during the process, as directed, I unplugged the purple, gray, tan and black wire plug coming from the oil pump and taped up the loose ends.

Well, the engine has been running great, but the "no oil" light goes on and the siren blares at sporadic intervals.

Why would the sensor trip if it is unplugged?

Did I unplug the wrong thing?

Looked pretty fool proof as there was only one plug that fit the description.

Thanks, all.

Depending on your setup, you probably have 2 wires running from the oil tank that need to be unplugged as well as the 3 or 4 wire harness from the pump.

The wires coming from the reservoir are for the "low oil" sensor. I unpugged that one as well when i did the conversion. No problem there. I am having issues with the "no oil" sensor. Could it be something electrical in the instrument cluster?
